Our Friends at Digital Apparent Shot us a message the other day telling us about

www.UntoldNews.org

The mission of Untold News is to educate Americans about the Middle
East and the non-political aspects of Israel through dissemination of the
unknown stories about Israel’s many humanitarian acts, inventions and
start-ups. For example, it is not generally known that Israel has instantly
sent Crisis Teams to a number of nations in trouble, or that Israel has more
inventions and start-ups per-capita than all of Europe combined.

Untold News target audience is neither the committed nor those who are
decidedly anti-Israel. It is college graduates who are in the middle group
those who know little about Israel and are not actively seeking information.
Working with experts, Untold News is developing creative strategies and
distribution methods to proactively present the case in both traditional and
new media.

I checked out the stuff they sent us and i wanted to share it with everyone.

I really love the idea behind this! I’ve often said that Israel gets a really bum rap in American news, and is often judged unfairly and by even higher (often unrealistically so) standards than other Middle-Eastern countries. This leads, in my opinion, to highly polarized views on the country: people either attack it for being a terrible militant regime or feel the need to defend it so vigorously that it becomes a blessed state that can do no wrong. Unfortunately, the real word is rarely so binary, and in this case the truth is almost certainly somewhere in between. It’s very refreshing to hear someone finally acknowledging this and trying to actually examine the issue instead of jumping to biased conclusions.

As for me, I think Israel has done some amazing things. I think it’s also done things that are decidedly less good. But I do support the country’s basic right to exist, and to exist where it does (though maybe or maybe not with the exact borders it has today). I also think Israel has the right to be judged just like any other country: that is, judged fairly on both the good and bad it does.
